The results of lotteries research to be released soon

The research is the result of numerous requests at NPP workshops and seminars across the country for the organisation to identify difficulties organisations are facing in accessing funding from the lottery.

The research highlights a range of issues, which are an area of dissatisfaction among the non-profit organisations. Concerns raised differ from organisation to organisation, but it is possible to group these into the following six, broadly defined, categories:

The research and lobbying on the Lotteries Act forms part of the NPP's programme to create enabling legislation that will strengthen the financial sustainability of the non-profit sector.

A directory of service providers

The Non Profit Partnership is compiling a directory of companies that offer services to the non-profit sector.

'The directory will include lawyers, accountants, auditors and financial consultants working with NPO's,' says Albert Dlwengu, information officer with the Non Profit Partnership. 'It will serve as an easy reference for NPO's, so that they know who to contact for a specific service.'

NPO's are not the only ones who will benefit from the publication of this directory.

'The directory is a platform on which companies can market their services for free,' Albert says.

Companies that wish to be included in the directory should provide the following details:

Deadline for entry into the directory is 30th September 2002. Send the required details to Albert Dlwengu at info.cpt@organisation or fax 021-425-0389.
