The Governance & Statutory Funding Unit
The NPO Unit focuses on legislation, regulations and policies that impact on access to fundraising as well as the governance of the non-profit sector.
These include:
Fundraising legislation
Governance Legislation
Fundraising
The objective of the fundraising sub-unit is to ensure that funds are distributed effectively to the NPO sector. To achieve this, The NPP investigates legislation that impacts on this activity, conducts research, hosts workshops and undertakes other activities that mobilizes the sector in support of the lobby to create an enabling environment in which organisations can raise funds for their programmes.
The information gathered is synthesized to form the basis of our submissions to parliament. We advocate for a change by disseminating relevant information to our stakeholders and conduct training with organisations on how to access the funds.
Governance
The objective of the governance sub-unit is to ensure that governance legislation effectively addresses the needs of the sector and to ensure that organisations apply the principles of good governance to their organisations. This in turn, will contribute to the good image of the sector and a willingness on the part of donors, government agencies, the business sector and individuals to give more to the NPO sector.
To achieve this, the NPP we conducts research on legislation, regulations and policies, which impact on the sector’s governance. The results form the basis of our lobby. In addition, through information dissemination and training, we encourage organisations to apply the principles of good governance to their organisations.
