Research

The NPP has commissioned several research projects in order to generate better understanding of the non-profit sector and its activities.

An efficiency analysis of NGO's in development delivery: five case studies of NGO delivery in South Africa

This research project forms part of the broader campaign by the NPP to advocate for reform to tax legislation to enable greater direct benefits to flow to NGO's engaged in development and welfare delivery. As a first component of this project, the NPP contracted a private development consultancy – Umhlaba Development Services – to undertake an initial analysis of NGO's in development delivery on their behalf.

Research on the lotteries act

The Non Profit Partnership has commissioned Natal University’s Centre for Civil Society to do the country’s first independent research into the Lotteries

Act and distribution of lottery funds to civil society organisations in South Africa.

The research is the result of numerous requests at NPP workshops and seminars across the country to identify difficulties organisations are facing in accessing funding from the lottery. The research findings will inform a submission that the NPP will present to Parliament’s portfolio committee on Trade and Industry later this year.
